Name Rings

Judaism: rituals, ceremonies, gifts

Since the beginning, Judaism has been all about rituals and ceremonies. These age old ceremonies and rituals have survived the tides of time and passed into the modern days. Rituals such as Havdala, atonement, Kiddush, Bat mitzvah and Bar mitzvah have for long been part of Judaism. Jewish ceremonies of Bat mitzvah and Bar mitzvah require giving of gifts to the boy and the girl who have come of age according to Judaism. Gifts are also give during the wedding ceremony, birthdays and when a child is born.

Name Jewelries

When it comes to giving of gifts, the name jewelries score over the other Judaica jewelries and gifts. The three main name jewelries include:-

What are name rings?

Name rings are the rings on which the names of the loved ones can be engraved. Name rings are basically of two types:

WEDDING NAME RINGS

These name rings are to be made of solid gold, silver or platinum. These name rings are gifted by the groom to his bride during the wedding ceremony. According to the Torah, the engravings on the wedding name rings should not result in the formation of any holes or openings. This is because the solid wedding name rings stand for everlasting relationships.

NORMAL NAME RINGS

These name rings are also made of gold, silver or platinum. The engravings on these name rings may create holes or openings. Therefore, these name rings are not gifted during the wedding ceremony. However these name rings can well be gifted during birthdays or during the Bat Mitzvah and the Bar Mitzvah ceremonies.

Designs of The Name Rings

The basic designs on the name rings are simple. The names are engraved on the rings according to the choice of the buyers. In some name rings, the engravings cover the full length of the circumference of the name rings. In other name rings, the engravings make an incomplete turn and appear on the top portion of the name rings. The engravings on the name rings are done mostly in Hebrew. This is because buyers seem to have a fascination for the Hebrew script which reminds them about the ancient mysticism of Judaism.

Price of Name Rings

Price of the name rings vary from $50 to $1000, depending upon the metals used and the amount of labour required to design these name rings. Name rings can either be bought from jewelry showrooms or through shopping portals. Shopping portals may offer the name rings at cheaper rates. The name rings provide excellent finish works by the finest craftsmen. And, you can buy the most authentic name rings from any parts of the world. When name rings are given as gifts, it becomes the responsibility of the persons being gifted to take utmost care of the name rings and preserve them. These name rings go on to become valuable family possessions and are passed on to the future generations through inheritance.
