The term Judaica can be traced back to the term “Judaism”. The term Judaism is derived from the Hebrew word Yehu-dah. Judaism denotes the religion of the Jews, the faith of the Jewish people, the philosophy of the Jewish people and the way of leading the life of the Jewish people. It seems fascinating to even think how an ancient religion that has a history of around three thousand years has survived for this long and have continued into the modern times. What makes Judaism unique is the fact that it continues with those ancient rituals that have so long been part of Judaism. Judaica refers to those objects or texts that have been used for so long to perform the ancient Jewish rituals; celebrate or commemorate Jewish celebrations and festivities and to maintain the ritualistic Jewish way of leading life. However in modern times the term Judaica can also mean the various Jewish gifts; ornaments and jewelries that carry on the ancient tradition of the Jewish religion.
